Novel Blooms
Having a fascination for three-dimensional work I thought that creating abstract flower forms with encaustics would be a good direction for my floral work. I explored many different types of materials including fabric, ribbon and discarded kraft paper from packages, yet none of them seemed to be right. That’s when I picked up an old paperback and the lights went on, having always loved typography this was the perfect solution. I think in another life I must have been a typographer, who else can claim that they have a favorite letter? I also loved the texture that the type added to the flower forms and the little bit of mystery the words provide.
